KB.LuSH Caught Up in the Rapture Playlist

I'd like to preface this by saying...we in no way believe any of this crazy! But we support anything that's a good reason to party. A good party calls for a good playlist! Here's our KB.LuSH Caught Up in the Rapture playlist for May 2011.  We'd surely get left behind....

Anyway here are some songs to listen to tomorrow while you await your impending doom

and if the world is ending, then we toast to it!

1. The Kills - Dead Road 7

This dead road leads down
To that dead road and back
To the road where the oldest road
Met the first dead road and cracked

Made the second and curved the third
Forked the forth and said to the fifth
"If you walk just a couple of miles
You're gonna come across the sixth, the sixth, the sixth"

Dead road seven is a bitch
Dead road seven is a bitch
Floating belly flush
Floating belly up, up, up, up ---- (666 floating belly up, rapture images anyone?)

2. Weezer - The World Has Turned and Left Me Here

The world has turned and left me here, enough said. Not to mention the song ends with a repeat chant of "do you believe?" Well, no. I don't.

3. The All American Rejects - Mona Lisa (When the World Comes Down)

Here's another pity there's another chance
Try to learn a lesson but you can't.
If we can burn a city in futures and in past,
without a change our lives will never last.
Cause' we're going fast.

You can sit beside me when the world comes down....(well unless of course your body?..soul? [how does that work exactly?] starts floating upwards

4. Till the World Ends - Britney Spears

APOCALYPSNEY! keep on dancing till the world ends...I wouldn't recommend starting today though.

5. Ashlee Simpson - Bittersweet World

Whatever happened to the magic
That was keepin us
The faith that beyond stardust
Now theres hypocrites pointing fingers
With Three fingers pointing right back
And all we're left with is [x6]
The foolish pride and the quick fixes
It's the be all end all
And right before we fade away
Call a spade a spade
And you should know
You can tell
it's a bittersweet world
Why can't we all just get along
In this
Bittersweet world
Everybody reapin what they sow
in this
Sweet world
For all her foibles - some of her music can really be profound. REALLY.

6. Days Away - God and Mars

I'm thinking that this isnt real
But im not concerned
I feel the best when you're not here
But I never learned, I never learned

In my mind i'll work this out
It's a shame, it's a shame
I never saw it coming
Probably not really a song about any type of apocalyptic scenario but the title "God and Mars" seemed fitting for this juxtaposition of religion and science fiction.

7. The Cure - The End of The World

This song isn't nearly as ominous as its title would suggest. In fact, it's markedly happier than most of The Cures songs. But Robert Smith probably thinks every other day is the end of the world.

8. Garbage - The World is not Enough

People like us
Know how to survive
There's no point in living
If you can't feel the life
We know when to kiss
And we know when to kill
If we can't have it all
Then nobody will

The world is not enough
But it is such a perfect place to start, my love
And if you're strong enough
Together we can take the world apart, my love

I feel safe
I feel scared
I feel ready
And yet unprepared
The world is not enough
But it is such a perfect place to start, my love
And if you're strong enough
Together we can take the world apart, my love
Imagine Bonnie and Clyde, post apocalypse

9. Blondie - Rapture

The song is called Rapture so it had to make this list. Speaking of religion and science fiction - imagine "the man from Mars" as a  euphemism for God or whoever passes judgement and this whole song becomes some sci-fytastic futuristic retelling of classic doomsday stories except featuring some God meets alien meets Godzilla creature who likes to go nightclubbing.

10.  Modern English - Melt With You

Dream of better lives the kind which never hates
(You should see why)
Trapped in a state of imaginary grace
(You should know better)
I made a pilgrimage to save this human's race
(You should see why)
Never comprehending the race had long gone bye
Hmmm sounds like a prophet could be singing this eyy? Also something about the idea of the rapture always makes me imagine melted looking ghosts flying upwards. See video #19.

11. Kid Cudi - Up Up and Away

I'll be up up and away
up up and away
cuz they gon' judge me anyway so whatever
Up up and away, JUDGE me? A simple song about getting high - or does it transcend that entirely?

12. Placebo - The Bitter End

You shower me with lullabies
As you're walking away
Reminds me that it's killing time
On this fateful day
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
"The Bitter End" Apropos, yes? YES. And Brian Molkos voice just sounds catastrophic.

13. Ida Maria - Going to Hell

and i wish i could pretend i'm not alone
and i wish i could defend everyone
i wish i could take you all in my arms
but ignorance is such a bliss

and we're all going to hell, yeah
sing with me, sing with me now
we are all going to hell, yeah
sing with me, sing with me now
we are all going to hell, yeah
sing with me, sing with me now
just be glad that someone bothers to tell, yeah...

You know who told me? NJ Transit....

I don't imagine there's ever a pleasant way to break the news of the world ending to someone - but I can't imagine that there is a more depressing way to find out than plastered to the side of dirty bus on a dirty highway (Rt. 46) on a rainy day in NJ.

14. Julian Casablancas - Out of the Blue

"Yes, I know I'm going to hell in a leather jacket" Leave it to Julian Casablancas to make doomsday sound super super cool.

15. The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun

Don't look back into the sun
You've cast your pearls but now you're on the run
And all the lies you said, who did you save?

But when they played that song at the Death Disco
It started fast but it ends so slow
And all the time it just reminded me of you

They'll never forgive you but they wont let you go (LET ME GO!)
Pete Doherty was just sentenced back to prison for possession of cocaine. This was after a long run (for him especially) of being clean. This does not bode well for the rest of us.

16. Santogold - Lights Out

Lights out
Shoot up the station
TV's dead where's there to run
Watch everybody come undone
Lights out
We'll make it easy
We'll make it fun
Won't let them see now, how they had won
Still I wait another round

Darling
Don't got to worry you're locked in tight
Darling
Don't got to worry turn out the light

17. The Flaming Lips - All We Have is Now

I noticed that he had a watch in hand
That looked familiar
He was me - from a dimension torn free
Of the future
"We're not gonna make it" He explained how
the end will come - You and me were never meant
to be part of the future -
All we have is now -
All we've ever had was now
All we have is now
All we'll ever have is now -
"Love During the Time of Apocalypse"

18. Talking Heads - (Nothing But) Flowers

Once there were parking lots
Now it's a peaceful oasis
you got it, you got it

This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
you got it, you got it
This song is post post apocalypse once the Earth has reclaimed itself. David Byrne of course survived.

19. Muse - Apocalypse Please

Declare this an emergency
Come on and spread a sense of urgency
And pull us through
And pull us through

And this is the end, the end
This is the end
Of the World

And it's time we saw a miracle
Come on it's time for something biblical
To pull us through
And pull us through

And this is the end, the end
This is the end
Of the World
Matt Bellamy who also wrote Supermassive Blackhole is just waiting for the end of the world so he can go out with an EPIC guitar solo.

20. The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter

Shelter won't help you.

21. The Rapture - Out of the Races and onto the Tracks

punishment in higher places
people they are weird
and people they act strange
get yourself together
shake shake shake shake
shake shake shake shake
We had a song called Rapture on the playlist, here's a song by The Rapture. People are weird, some of you think the world is ending.

22. The Strokes - Ize of the World

A desk to organize
A product to advertise
A market to monopolize
Movie stars you idolize
Leaders to scandalize
Enemies to neutralize
No time to apologize
Fury to tranquilize
Weapons to synchronize
Cities to vapor-i
